Breaking News: New job position: Director of Operations
In recent months the Issachar research and discernment project has been revealing our preferred future of District Office service and engagement to you and with you, our constituency.
Among other key priorities, greater emphasis must be given to leading WCD operations and staff to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency in achieving our WCD Office mission.
“Our mission is to serve our churches and leaders as a catalyst to pursue Jesus for life, church and world transformation.”
Our vision is to increasingly become a community of people who make self replicating disciples (Christ-centred), who step deeply into freedom and empowerment through the Holy Spirit (Spirit-empowered), and who extend the gospel to the least reached, wherever they are (Mission-focused).
These are our Big 3 priorities.
To that end we are establishing a new team within the office of the WCD, focusing on supplying the central intelligence, management, systems, administration and services that will best support our churches, pastors and remainder of our office team.
We are pleased to announce:
beginning June 1, 2019,
has been appointed as Director of Operations.
In the near future, she will begin to design a team of people who will champion effective operations in the areas of Finance, Asset Management, Office Management, IT, and Communications.
At the WCD District Conference we will provide more information about our plans to implement Issachar recommendations.
Sheri has the blessing of being raised in a Christian home, with an amazing sister, parents, grand parents, family and friends who loved her and guided her faith in God. She asked Jesus to come into her heart at a young age, was baptized in her early teens, and at age 19 at a Calgary Missions Conference, had a life changing experience with God which changed the trajectory of her life towards full-time ministry. Sheri has been part of the Alliance family for most of her life, having attended First Alliance Church, Foothills Alliance Church, and Rockpointe Church while living in Calgary. In 2004, God introduced her to the love of her life, Mike and they have been married for 12 years.
Sheri has a strong blend of professional ministry and business management.
After graduating from Canadian Bible College (CBC) with a Bachelor of Theology degree, she served over 7 years in ministry, including an internship at Rexdale Alliance Church (Toronto), and as Youth Pastor at both Paramount Drive Alliance Church (Hamilton) and Foothills Alliance Church (Calgary).
For the past 24 years, Sheri’s business experience includes a variety of leadership positions:
- Director of Operations for a Financial Planning and Insurance Company
- Human Resources and Administration Manager for Mennonite Mutual Insurance, an Alberta faith-based property insurance company.
- Project Manager of Execution Projects, providing guidance for project managers and engineering managers, and specifically tasked to improve process, communication, and reporting for over 100 Engineering and IT projects worth more than $10 million annually.
- Project Control Manager at both General Dynamics and AltaLink directly supervising 14 multicultural staff in several office locations, in project cost control, accounting, and scheduling, and providing portfolio status on more than 50 projects worth several billion dollars.
Sheri has received awards and recognition for advancing organizations, solving challenges, re-working processes to streamline better and more efficient ways of doing things, and finding IT solutions to improve communication, reporting, and metrics that support strategic initiatives and good decision-making.
However, Sheri is most often appreciated for the way she values and cares for people and loves them while leading them, helping them build on their strengths and God-giftedness.
Since February 12, 2018 Sheri has served as the Office Manager and Executive Assistant to Brent Trask. As the new WCD Director of Operations, Sheri is excited to lean in and see how God wants to reveal more of Himself, stir up His Holy Spirit to reach those who don’t know Him and use the treasure-chest of experience and life lessons as a springboard to design innovative ways to activate, improve, and encourage the WCD.
